SCK Launch

Eighth grade students were invited to attend SCK Launch in Bowling Green. During the day, students learned about possible careers that will be prominent in our area within the next ten years. Students had the opportunity for some hands-on experiences and many of those were virtual.

Family Youth Services Coordinator Glenda Wilson hosted the first Lunch and Learn of the year. Students signed up to participate during their lunch time. The guest speakers were first responders: Bobby Adams- Fire Department, Dewayne Barnett- Sheriff's Department, Phyllis Reagan- Ambulance Service, and BJ Boyles- National Guard. Each one talked about what their agency would do as a first responder. Over 90 students participated.

Yearbooks and 8th Grade Ads on Sale

Now is the time to purchase a 2018 yearbook. Yearbooks may be purchased online using debit/credit card or cash/check can be sent to school. Cost is $30 for yearbook, personalization is $7, and other icons or monograms can be added. Flyer sent home with students can be found here. There is no tax when purchsing a yearbook.

Eighth grade congratulatory ads are also on sale. Design your own ad online or send order form to school. December 1 is the deadline. Contact Miss Holder for more information.

Bully Awareness Walk will be at 3:00 at the middle school for anyone who would like to participate. All students need to sign-in with after school. 

Football Football 8th Grade Parent Night

Thursday, Sept. 21 is 8th Grade Parent Night. Parents are asked to be at the game ready to line up by 5:15. The game against Metcalfe Co will begin immediately following. Go Roe!

Football Game and Parent Night Postponed

Tomorrow night’s home football game against Metcalfe Co and 8th grade parent night has been postponed due to wet field conditions prior to our varsity homecoming game on Friday night. This game will be rescheduled for next week. Coaches and sponsors will inform players and cheerleaders and another one call message will be sent out as soon as the make up date has been finalized.

"Pulling to Feed the Kids" Truck Pull

"Pulling to Feed the Kids" Truck Pull will be held on Saturday, October 7th starting at 6:00 at Monroe County Fairgrounds. This event benefits the Backpack Program.

backpack Beta and Y-Club Collecting Donations

Jr. Beta and Y-Club members plus student are asked to bring a 12-pack of drinks or a variety bag of individual chips for the Backpack Program's Pull for the Kids Truck Pull. These items will be used for the concessions during the Pull for the Kids Truck Pull which will be held on October 7th at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.

Any boy interested in playing basketball should plan on attending the meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 5pm in the MCMS Commons Area. The meeting should last about 30 minutes.

The library is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair from Sept. 1-Sept. 8. Students are encouraged to visit the library to see the selection of books. Books may also be purchased through the online book fair. The will be special events during lunch everyday free to all students. Thanks for your support.

On Tuesday August 22nd there will be a mandatory parent meeting for all 6-7-8th grade girls who intend to play middle school basketball this year. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm in the Middle school commons area. All players and their parents must attend this meeting to receive information on the upcoming season, including starting dates, practice schedules, and game schedules.

Camp Middle will be July 25-26 from 8:00-12:00 for all incoming 6th graders. There will be orientation for parents on July 25th at 12:00 in the gym. Parents will pick up school registration forms and schedule on July 25th in the front office before registering students for Camp Middle. We look forward to seeing all 6th graders.

Testing KPREP Testing

Students will be taking the KPREP Test May 3-May 9.We ask that all students be in attendance during this time. Tests will be primarily in the morning. If appointments need to be made, please try to get them during the afternoon. If students are absent, they will have to make up any test missed.

Testing schedule will be:

-8th grade tests all 5 days

-6th grade only tests 4 days now, due to On-Demand writing being removed

-7th grade test May 3, 4, 5

MCHS Practice Football Field Plans MCHS Football Team will be getting a new practice field!


The Monroe County Falcon Football team will soon be getting a much needed practice football field thanks to the generosity of Cleary Construction Inc. and  Rock Solutions, LLC and Precision Engineering, LLC. Construction  on the field will begin in the near future. The new practice field will be located behind the stands at Darrell Carter Stadium.  Above is a drawing of the work that is going to be performed.


Monroe County Middle School would like to take a moment to recognize all of our students that competed at STLP state competition in Lexington, Ky. These students worked very hard with their community and other schools to complete projects for SLTP showcase. We had three showcase groups: Germ Janitors, School Bus Safety and Christmas Around the World: Haiti. The School Bus Safety group received “best in group” allowing them to go to level three of the judging rounds. Our STLP also had four young men completing in the Race to the Future slot car competition. Emmanuel Calles-Gonzales received the reward for fastest slot car out of the middle school category. Gavin Wilson made it to round four of the Sumobot competition with his robot he built out of Legos and sensors. Jacob Irvin was invited to help video events and helped in producing a video. A feature video made it to the final round of juding too. We are so proud of these students, their hard work and accomplishments.

Rogers Explorer Rogers Explorer Program

Congratulations to Clayton Biggerstaff, Gracie Walden, and Kade Hagan for being selected as Rogers Explorer Program. These students will spend a week this summer working on their leadership, technology, math, science, and community service skills.

Congrats! 2017 KMEA Solo & Ensemble Performance Assessment

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, Monroe County Middle School Band students prepared music for solo and/or ensemble events at the Kentucky Music Educators Association solo & Ensemble Performance Assessment held at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Ky. All performances were evaluated by adjudicators and received both written and verbal feedback. Students receiving a Distinguished or Proficient rating will be awarded the official KMEA medal.

WKU honors band WKU Honors Band

Ellie Emberton and Emily Arnett were invited to participate in WKU Honors Band on Friday, March 3. Students practiced pieces of music and performed a concert for parents and friends at WKU's Van Meter Hall.

The MCHS Lady Falcons basketball team will play in the second round of the regional tournament tomorrow night against Metcalfe county at Diddle Area in Bowling green.  Game time is 6pm.  Advance tickets can be purchased tomorrow from 8 am to 2 pm at the Monroe County Wellness Center.  Tickets in advance are $6 and $8 at the gate.  Also, Coach John Petett will going around to each school tomorrow selling tickets.  Good Luck to our Lady Falcons!

Jr. Beta Club Convention

The Jr. Beta Convention was held in Lexington last week. There were over 80 students to participated in several competitions while at the convention. Congratulations to Caroline Walden who placed second with her sketch and to the Technology Team who placed third. These projects have been invited to participated at the National Jr. Beta Convention in June which will be held at Disney.

Governors Cup District Governor's Cup

The Academic Team traveled to Clinton Co. on Saturday to participate in the District Governor's Cup. The team placed 3rd in Quick Recall. Bryant Tandy--1st in Social Studies, 2nd in Science, and 2nd in Math; Marrisa Kerr--5th in Arts and Humanities; Sydney Wade-- 1st in Science and 5th in Social Studies; Brynley Starnes--5th in Math; Emily Arnett--4th in Arts and Humanities. The Regional Governor's Cup will be held at MCMS on Feb. 4.

Mac Swim Meet

MCHS Falcon Swim Team hosted Barren County on January 12, 2017 at the Monroe County Family Wellness Center. Seventh graders Drake Goad and Lukas Ford tied for first place overall in the male division in the meet.  Congratulations guys!

RE Rogers Explorers Program

Any 8th grader interested in applying for Roger's Explorer Program must do so by Friday, Feb. 10. Requirements include:  Application assignments and two letters of recommendations.

If selected, the student will spend 2 nights and 3 days on one of seven college/university campuses. Current partners include Lindsey Wilson College, University of the Cumberlands, Asbury University, Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University, University of Pikeville, and Union College.

Y-Club members attend KYA (Kentucky Youth Assembly) December 15-17. Two bills were presented. The sixth graders' (Tate Sheffield, Katie Copas, Jarius Glover, Jon Mark Holder) bill was voted highest Bluegrass Bill. They presented in the House but was voted down by the narrowest of margins. Bryant Tandy and Hollie Harlan's bill passed the house but was defeated in the senate. Bryant was presented Outstanding Speaker Award. Hollie was presented Outstanding Delegate Award.

STLP delivered items donated by Beta members to Michelle Carver who will be taking these items to an orphanage in Haiti. They then interviewed Holly and Daphinca Wood. Daphinca lived at an orphanage for a short time. All are from Scottsville. A special thanks to all students and staff members who donated.
