Monroe County FCCLA member and Kentucky FCCLA President Lexie Grace Emmert attended the annual Student Leadership Day in Frankfort, Kentucky. Student Leadership Day is sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Career and Technical Education and is designed to encourage future leaders to be responsible citizens. The goal is to raise visibility and demonstrate excellence of Career and Technical Education programs by providing officers and members of Career and Technical Education Student Organizations a leadership activity that addresses Kentucky’s Learning Goals and Academic Expectations.
While in attendance, Lexie Grace represented all Career and Technical Student Organizations by testifying on behalf of Career and Technical Education at the House Education Committee as well as the Senate Education Committee. Lexie’s testimony discussed the benefits of Career and Technical Education, as well as the importance of legislative support of these programs. Lexie was also recognized as a special guest on the Senate floor by Senator David Given, Senate Pro-Tem.
While in Frankfort, Lexie met with Senator David Given, Representative Bart Rowland, and Senate President Robert Stivers and discussed with them her involvement in CTE and the opportunities CTE provides students around the state.
