Hi, I am Mitzy Cook and am a Business Education Instructor at Monroe County Area Technology Center.  Before beginning my teaching career, I served as the Administrator of a Long-Term Care Facility for 11 years.  My work experience also includes being a Phlebotomist and a Social Worker/Admissions Director.  My education experience includes a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, a Minor and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.  I hold a license for Nursing Home Administration and have a Master’s degree in Teaching.

In Business Education, we offer many courses to help prepare students for a career in different areas of business including Administrative Support, Business Management, Digital Literacy, Microsoft Office Specialist, Office Administration, Business Principles and Applications, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship and Medical Office Procedures.  We also have courses within these pathways that offer students the potential for earning dual credit that is honored at various colleges/universities.  I also offer students the MOS & ASK Industry Certifications, which are recognized by the business industry.  I am the advisor for FBLA (@MonroeFBLA).

I am married to Josh Cook and we have two children, Caleb and Jessie Beth.  I am a member at Fairview Baptist Church and my hobbies include coaching Little League Cheerleading, going to the lake, and spending time with my family.

My favorite quote is by William James; it says “The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.”  My goal as a teacher is to teach students that if they strive to do well in life, their dreams can come true!  I plan to use my experiences, including those as a manager, to teach students in a fun and applicable way to make this goal a reality.
