T.E.S. 1st Grader Asks Help for Blanket Drive
Six year old TES student Maddie Ford has always had a soft spot for people in need. Two years ago, while on vacation with her grandparents, she witnessed a homeless man pushing a shopping cart full of items and with plastic grocery bags tied around the sides. Maddie thought that he had been shopping but when her Nana explained that he was homeless and that everything he owned was in that cart, she began asking questions about where he lived and why he didn’t have a home. After seeing homeless on the streets of Bowling Green and Nashville, she has become concerned about where they will go when it gets cold and how they will stay warm. Maddie is starting a blanket drive for the homeless in these areas. Once again, she wants to ask her friends and community to help her help those in need. Monetary donations, blankets or sleeping bags can be dropped off at Keith Chiropractic 907 N. Main in Tompkinsville or by calling 487-8283. Her family will arrange for Maddie to come and collect them herself.
