PRIDE has honored Tompkinsville Elementary School for outstanding achievements in Environmental Education during the 2009-10 school year. TES won PRIDE’s Rookie of the Year Award, which salutes environmental education programs that show great promise. The award is given for innovation, growth or excellence by schools that have small programs or that just recently began receiving PRIDE grants.
The award was presented on December 2, 2010 at TES during the school’s PRIDE Club meeting. The school received a trophy and $750 for its environmental education program.
“TES earned this award by taking the initiative to partner with the city of Tompkinsville to start a recycling program for the entire school district,” said Mark Davis, PRIDE field representative. “We thank the students and Mrs. Dana Hammer, who sponsors this project, as well as the school, district, and City leaders who supported this project, Davis added.
