Construction Carpentry - Brent Steenbergen

Last Updated: 5/25/2021 7:09 PM

Hello, I am Brent Steenbergen and welcome to my webpage.  I am the Construction Carpentry Instructor, here, at Monroe County Area Technology Center and have been employed since 1994.  I received my Rank I from Western Kentucky University in Vocational Industrial Technical Education and have many years of work experience related to my field including construction work, being a furniture maker.

I teach courses for the Skilled Trades Commercial Carpentry TRACK and Residential Carpenter Assistant pathways.  They are Introduction to Construction Technology, Floor and Wall Framing, Ceiling and Roof Framing, Site Layout and Foundations and Exterior and Interior Finishing.

In addition, I help students to gain the skills needed so that they may earn the NCCER certification as they become a completer of a Carpentry pathway.  I am also a co-sponsor for Skills USA.

In my spare time, I enjoy enhancing my carpentry skills by making furniture.  I also enjoy farming.

My favorite part of the job is helping young adults create their own vision and helping them to set goals for what they wish to accomplish in their lives.  As for my classes, and all of a student’s education for that matter, I can not tell you what you will gain by the experience.  However, it is certain one can not measure the things he/she has not tried!  I welcome you to enroll in my career pathway and look forward to the learning opportunities we may have.

You are always welcome to contact me by calling (270)487-8261 or by emailing .
